Origem do termo
O termo férias designa o período de descanso a que têm direito empregados, servidores públicos, estudantes etc., depois de passado um ano ou um semestre de trabalho ou de atividades. Provém do latim ‘feria, -ae’, singular de ‘feriae, -arum’, que significava, entre os romanos, o dia em que não se trabalhava por prescrição religiosa.
A palavra latina encontra-se também na denominação dos dias da semana do calendário elaborado pelo imperador romano Constantino, no século III d.C., que os santificou com o nome de ‘feria’ e o sentido de comemoração religiosa: ‘Prima feria, Secunda feria, Tertia feria, Quarta feria, Quinta feria, Sexta feria e Septima feria’. No século IV, ainda por influência da Igreja, ‘prima feria’ foi substituído por ‘Dominicus dies’(dia do Senhor) e ‘septima feria’ transformou-se em ‘sabbatu’, dia em que os primeiros judeus cristãos se reuniam para orar. A língua portuguesa foi a única a manter a palavra ‘feira’ nos nomes dos dias de semana.

Nature just has the most amazing palette… Most of week that we were on vacation it used to be cloudy by evening and we used to miss sunset beacuse we were out driving… and then one day we got back earlier than usual around 7.00PM and saw these amazing hues on the horizon…
Grabbed the cam and rushed to the beach… in minutes literally the colors changed from blues to reds and then this purplish tone… just another spectacular display… I am always left speechless by the vibrancy of sunsets…
This one was taken a little bit earlier than the one in the comment which is a closer look at the setting sun… This picture really does not come close to what my eyes saw… somehow what my eyes see my camera does not seem to do justice ::Sigh::
